The Youth League of the Convention People\u2019s Party (CPP), has hit back at the party\u2019s flagbearer, Ivor Greenstreet, after he reportedly suggested that the group acted arbitrarily in petitioning<\/a><\/strong><\/span> the Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice, (CHRAJ), over President John Mahama’s Ford Expedition gift saga.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Citi News<\/strong>, the Secretary to the Youth League, Hardi Yakubu, maintained that their petition had the backing of the party.<\/p>\n

We took the petition to the General Secretary who is the chief administrator of the party so yes, we did.\u201d<\/p>\n

At the Institute of Economic Affairs\u2019 \u00a0(IEA) Evening Encounter Series on\u00a0[Wednesday], the CPP Presidential candidate intimated that, the Youth League\u2019s comments and actions about the Ford Expedition Saga were not in line with the party\u2019s position.<\/p>\n

But in Mr. Yakubu’s view, the Youth League did not even need to consult before petitioning CHRAJ given the party’s position and ideology \u00a0on corruption.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo if your ideology is anti-corruption, you don\u2019t need party central committees to the tell you that this action is not right and therefore you have to take this kind of step,\u201d Mr. Yakubu explained.<\/p>\n
