Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP\u00a0Nathan Kofi Boakye, has been promoted to the rank of Commissioner of Police by President John Dramani Mahama.<\/p>\n
His promotion took effect from June 1 2016, according to a statement from the Ghana Police Service.<\/p>\n
The statement also conveyed the Inspector General of Police (IGP), John Kudalor\u2019s, congratulations to COP Boakye.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”g6MzQkRCPdBqqgV1GLChCFDcCUqwce2n”]COP Boakye\u00a0took over from DCOP Augustine Gyening in 2014, as the Ashanti Regional Police boss.<\/p>\n
His last promotion was in 2012, when he was\u00a0promoted from the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) to Deputy Commissioner of Police.<\/p>\n
Also a former Director of Operations of the Ghana Police Service, DCOP Boakye was called to the Bar as a lawyer in 2008, where he was adjudged the best law student of his graduating class at the Ghana Law School.<\/p>\n
The newly promoted Commissioner of Police is respected\u00a0in law enforcement circles, and has received many\u00a0commendations notably from the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his work in the region.<\/p>\n
