{"id":225816,"date":"2016-06-27T11:35:36","date_gmt":"2016-06-27T11:35:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=225816"},"modified":"2016-06-27T11:35:36","modified_gmt":"2016-06-27T11:35:36","slug":"john-paintsil-named-kaizer-chiefs-assistant-coach","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/06\/john-paintsil-named-kaizer-chiefs-assistant-coach\/","title":{"rendered":"John Paintsil named Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former Ghana international defender John Paintsil has been appointed as the new assistant coach of South African Premier League club Kaizer Chiefs.<\/p>\n<p>The 35-year-old will now work alongside Chiefs head coach Steve Komphela, who was in charge of Paintsil at Maritzburg United two seasons ago.<\/p>\n<p>Paintsil&#8217;s club career included stints with English sides West Ham and Fulham.<\/p>\n<p>He replaces former South African international Doctor Khumalo as Chiefs&#8217; assistant.<\/p>\n<p>Chiefs finished fifth in the 2015-2016 Premier Soccer League 25 points behind champions Mamelodi Sundowns.<\/p>\n<p>The club, who won the title in 2015, also announced the signing of eight new players for the upcoming season including Zimbabweans, Edmore Chirambadare and Michelle Katsvairo from Chicken Inn.<\/p>\n<p>One of the other players unveiled on Monday was Sundowns captain and defender Ramahlwe Mphhahlele, who made his international debut for Bafana Bafana in their 4-0 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier win over Gambia earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>The Chiefs however will be without Togo international striker Camaldine Abraw for nine months with an unspecified injury.<\/p>\n<p>As well as Paintsil there were two more additions to the coaching staff with Brazilian Alexandre Revoredo as the new goalkeeping coach and his compatriot Marco Munhoz as physical trainer.<\/p>\n<p>Former South Africa international Brian Baloyi remains with the club as part of the goalkeeping department.<\/p>\n<p>The club announced Paintsil&#8217;s new position on it&#8217;s official Twitter account.<\/p>\n<p>New Assistant Coach, John Paintsil welcome to the Gold &amp; Black <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/KCPressCon16?src=hash\">#KCPressCon16<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Amakhosi4Life?src=hash\">#Amakhosi4Life<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/I1gM5uhYbE\">pic.twitter.com\/I1gM5uhYbE<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Kaizer Chiefs (@KaizerChiefs) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KaizerChiefs\/status\/747371347475570688\">June 27, 2016<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: BBC<\/p>\n<p><script src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" async=\"\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former Ghana international defender John Paintsil has been appointed as the new assistant coach of South African Premier League club Kaizer Chiefs.
