{"id":225589,"date":"2016-06-26T15:00:32","date_gmt":"2016-06-26T15:00:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=225589"},"modified":"2016-06-26T15:00:32","modified_gmt":"2016-06-26T15:00:32","slug":"cap-30-pensioners-subjected-to-long-wait-for-headcount-photos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/06\/cap-30-pensioners-subjected-to-long-wait-for-headcount-photos\/","title":{"rendered":"CAP 30 pensioners subjected to long wait for headcount [Photos]"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One woman was rushed to the hospital for treatment from her injuries as about 200 retired public workers under the CAP 30 pension scheme were forced to wait for hours\u00a0during a headcount at\u00a0the Police Depot Church at Tesano in Accra on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Many of the pensioners who had reported for the exercise expressed their displeasure with the officials over the poor coordination and their treatment.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-225600\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Pensioners2-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"Pensioners2\" width=\"620\" height=\"465\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Citi News<\/strong>\u2019 Jessica Aryee reported that at about 4pm, most of the senior citizens had not yet been attended to, although some of them had arrived at the place as early as dawn.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the pensioners described their ordeal to <strong>Citi News<\/strong>, with one woman being rushed to the police clinic for treatment after her fall.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-225601\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Pensioners3-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"Pensioners3\" width=\"620\" height=\"465\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not good. I\u2019m from far away. How can they treat human beings like this, even those who are sick. It is very horrible,\u201d one of them said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the CAP 30 Pension Scheme<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The CAP 30 pension scheme, which is regarded as higher than the SSNIT pension, is funded by direct budgetary allocations from the consolidated fund, but public servants who qualify for CAP 30 still contribute five per cent of their monthly salaries (deductible at source), while the government (the employer pays 12.5% of employees\u2019 respective salaries to SSNIT.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-225598\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Pensioners-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"Pensioners\" width=\"620\" height=\"465\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Judicial Service workers want in<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There have been some agitations by\u00a0judicial service workers and members of the bench for a place on the CAP 30 pensions scheme.<\/p>\n<p>At the moment\u00a0only judges are on the scheme\u00a0while all other judicial service workers are on the regular\u00a0SSNIT pensions scheme.<\/p>\n<p>However, the Supreme Court, in a ruling last week, dismissed an application brought before it by the JUSSAG.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-225602\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Pensioners4-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"Pensioners4\" width=\"620\" height=\"465\" \/><\/p>\n<p>By: citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One woman was rushed to the hospital for treatment from her injuries as about 200 retired public workers under the CAP 30 pension scheme were forced to wait for hours\u00a0during a headcount at\u00a0the Police Depot Church at Tesano in Accra on Saturday.
