{"id":225263,"date":"2016-06-24T17:18:49","date_gmt":"2016-06-24T17:18:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=225263"},"modified":"2016-06-24T17:18:49","modified_gmt":"2016-06-24T17:18:49","slug":"accra-symphony-orchestra-to-lead-accra-to-the-opera-in-july","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/06\/accra-symphony-orchestra-to-lead-accra-to-the-opera-in-july\/","title":{"rendered":"Accra Symphony Orchestra to lead Accra to the opera in July"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On July 9, the Accra Symphony Orchestra and its vocal section, LUMINA, will give the people of Accra something to remember for life.<\/p>\n<p>This will be at a groundbreaking concert which has been dubbed, \u2018Accra Goes To The Opera.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>It will be held at the Accra International Conference Center at 7:30pm.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-225265\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/ACCRA-SYMPHONY-facebook-newsfeed-470x330.png\" alt=\"ACCRA-SYMPHONY-facebook-newsfeed-470x330\" width=\"598\" height=\"420\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Accra Symphony Orchestra has promised to give patrons a memorable night with performances that range from Carl Orff\u2019s\u201d O Fortuna\u201d of Camina Burana, selection of classics from The Soundz of Music and the music of African giants, Manu Dibango of Cameroon, Osibisa of Ghana and Fela Ransome Kuti of Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>The orchestra has become a force to reckon with as one of the best in Classical Music Ensembles in Africa.<\/p>\n<p>It was created in 2012, as the brainchild of Dr. Mensa Otabil, and was primarily an instrumental ensemble. With the addition of the operatic voices, LUMINA in 2014, the Accra Symphony Orchestra is poised to pioneer a classical and operatic musical renaissance in Africa.
