{"id":224085,"date":"2016-06-21T07:36:46","date_gmt":"2016-06-21T07:36:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=224085"},"modified":"2016-06-21T07:36:46","modified_gmt":"2016-06-21T07:36:46","slug":"surcharge-ex-sada-boss-for-blowing-ghc186000-on-trips-pac","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/06\/surcharge-ex-sada-boss-for-blowing-ghc186000-on-trips-pac\/","title":{"rendered":"Surcharge ex-SADA boss for blowing GHc186,000 on trips &#8211; PAC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Public Accounts Committee of Parliament has ordered the management of the Savanna Accelerated Development Authority (SADA), to surcharge its former boss, Alhaji Gilbert Seidu Iddi for wasting over GHc186,000 on a trip to Turkey, four years ago.<\/p>\n<p>The directive follows a recommendation by the 2013 Auditor General\u2019s report that Gilbert Seidu Iddi be surcharged for the unauthorized payment.<\/p>\n<p>At it&#8217;s sitting on Monday, Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, Kwaku\u00a0 Agyemang\u00a0 Manu\u00a0 said per the\u00a0 Auditor General\u2019s report , the money spent\u00a0 on the officials\u00a0 who embarked on that\u00a0 trip\u00a0 including Gilbert Seidu Iddi and a former Minister of state ,\u00a0 Alhaji Dr Mustapha\u00a0 Ahmed \u201cwas not productively used.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kwaku Agyemang Manu therefore directed the management of SADA to serve their former boss with a letter for refund.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SADA not doing enough to recover money &#8211; CEO admits <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, speaking to <strong>Citi News<\/strong>, the current CEO of SADA, Charles Abugri, admitted that his outfit has not been doing enough to recover state funds that were wrongfully expended by the past management.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo we haven\u2019t done enough. We have to keep working at it\u2026 some things we are recovering. Some efforts, we are making. We probably need to give a bit more effort in one thing or the other, but some of these legal things are complex.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_224087\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-224087\" style=\"width: 695px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-224087\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/current-sada-boss-Charles-abugre.jpg\" alt=\"SADA boss, Charles Abugre\" width=\"695\" height=\"433\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-224087\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">SADA boss, Charles Abugre<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>He however expressed reluctance in using the legal route to recover the monies saying,\u00a0\u201ccourts are not cheap so sometimes you have to find other ways to resolve the problem other than court to get our money back and try and build the relationships going forward. That doesn\u2019t mean that we have ruled out court. These are all possibilities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Also speaking to Citi News, the Vice Chairman of the committee, Samuel Atta Akyea\u00a0expressed disgust\u00a0 at how monies meant for SADA were misappropriated during the tenure of the previous management.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is the most disgraceful report that I have ever seen and read since I became a member of the Public Accounts Committee.
