{"id":22407,"date":"2014-06-04T06:58:07","date_gmt":"2014-06-04T06:58:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=22407"},"modified":"2014-06-04T07:38:19","modified_gmt":"2014-06-04T07:38:19","slug":"22407","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/06\/22407\/","title":{"rendered":"Wreath laying to mark June 4"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>Former President Jerry John Rawlings will today join cadres to mark the 35th anniversary of the June 4 1979 uprising.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>A wreath-laying ceremony will be held at the Revolution Square in Accra to mark the day.<\/p>\n<p>A group of military men \u00a0toppled the government of the Supreme Military Council, a military regime, in a bloody coup on June 4, 1979 and formed the Armed Forces Revolutionary Council (AFRC) led by Flt Lt Jerry John Rawlings, then an Air Force officer.<\/p>\n<p>According to details signed by Naval Capt Afeku Amenyo and released by the anniversary planning committee, \u00a0the occasion will be graced by the presence of Flt Lt Jerry John Rawlings, former President and leader of both the uprising and the December 1981 Revolution.<\/p>\n<p>The wreath-laying ceremony in honour of the fallen heroes will be preceded by a route march from the Kawukudi Junction to the Revolution Square.<\/p>\n<p>The route march, which will commence at 6 a.m, will culminate in a parade at 7:30 am at the Revolution Square.<\/p>\n<p>The uprising started a &#8216;House cleaning&#8217; exercise against corruption. Three former military leaders of Ghana, Lt. Gen. Afrifa, Gen. Acheampong and Lt. Gen.
