{"id":223500,"date":"2016-06-18T14:56:20","date_gmt":"2016-06-18T14:56:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=223500"},"modified":"2016-06-18T14:56:20","modified_gmt":"2016-06-18T14:56:20","slug":"shai-osudoku-ndc-primary-irate-crowd-hoots-at-kpessa-whyte","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/06\/shai-osudoku-ndc-primary-irate-crowd-hoots-at-kpessa-whyte\/","title":{"rendered":"Shai Osudoku NDC primary: Irate crowd hoots at Kpessa Whyte"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Some voters\u00a0at the Post Office polling station in Dodowa, hooted at National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary aspirant for the\u00a0Shai Osudoku Constituency, Dr. Kpessa Whyte, when he\u00a0visited the\u00a0area to observe the voting process.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Whyte and his team were met with hooting from the charged crowd at the Post Office polling station.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-223503\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/b94ae281-7d18-4097-9064-6553f4324db7.jpg\" alt=\"b94ae281-7d18-4097-9064-6553f4324db7\" width=\"600\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The parliamentary primary in\u00a0the constituency was necessitated by the <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/03\/04\/ndc-shai-osuduku-parl-candidate-dies-in-car-crash\/\">death of the previous candidate<\/a><\/strong><\/span> who died in a car crash in March, 2016.<\/p>\n<p>The Post Office polling station is the largest with the highest number of voters in the constituency and it is known to be a strong hold of the the other contestant in the primary,\u00a0Linda Akwele Ocloo.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-223505\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/28e12b69-c253-4d88-ad4d-7b0b983794bd.jpg\" alt=\"28e12b69-c253-4d88-ad4d-7b0b983794bd\" width=\"600\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<p>According to the crowd, Dr. Kpessa Whyte has allegedly brought land guards to intimidate them for which they were hooting at him and his team of well-built men.<\/p>\n<p>The situation could have gotten chaotic but for the timely intervention of the police who beefed up the numbers of personnel at the polling station.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-223507\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/7c1ecf2b-45f8-4e4a-b9bd-549e44be187b.jpg\" alt=\"7c1ecf2b-45f8-4e4a-b9bd-549e44be187b\" width=\"600\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Some of voters shouted: \u201cwhy would you bring land guards here to kill us if you are campaigning to lead us&#8221;, Dr Kpessa Whyte, we don&#8217;t know you so please kindly stay off the constituency&#8221; among others.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the angry voters \u00a0also alleged that the NDC&#8217;s Ningo Prampram Parliamentary candidate and presidential staffer, Sam George, who was seen in the company of Dr. Kpessa Whyte, is the mastermind behind the land guards in the town.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-223504\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/2c01aea1-ea05-46c9-97bc-d623b8032bcc.jpg\" alt=\"2c01aea1-ea05-46c9-97bc-d623b8032bcc\" width=\"600\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Calm was restored after Dr. Kpessa Whyte who stood in shock, was whisked away by the police.<\/p>\n<p>Voting resumed after it halted during the scuffle.<\/p>\n<p>The two candidates contesting are Linda Akwele Ocloo, the wife of the late Parliamentary Candidate, and Mr. Michael Kpessa Whyte, acting Executive Director of the National Service Secretariat.<\/p>\n<p><strong>I won\u2019t contest Shai Osu-Doku NDC primary \u2013 Tetteh Assumeng <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The National Democratic Congress\u2019 (NDC) incumbent Member of Parliament MP for Shai Osu Doku, David Tetteh Assumeng, <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/03\/08\/i-wont-contest-shai-osu-doku-ndc-primary-tetteh-assumeng\/\">opted out of the\u00a0primary<\/a><\/strong><\/span> in solidarity with the deceased,\u00a0Desmond William Ocloo.<\/p>\n<p>Desmond William Ocloo won the party\u2019s primary in November 2015. He triumphed over David Tetteh-Assumeng, who has been in Parliament since 2004.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Ocloo during the primary polled 4,350 votes while David Tetteh Assumeng had 1280.
