The Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) has suspended admissions at its surgical emergency unit.

This was contained in a notice issued by the Medical Directorate and posted at the entrance of the unit two days ago.

[contextly_sidebar id=”EhRpRUxw6V4tIztgnXu4Ck139YrayDO1″]Authorities at the unit explained that they had to put admissions on hold because the unit was full beyond its capacity.

They further indicated that they did not want to compromise on health care delivery hence their decision.

The notice however failed to indicate an alternative unit where referrals from the surgical/ medical emergency unit should be directed to.

It is expected that barring any hitches the unit will resume full operations today[Friday] since the notice indicated that it will be closed for only 48 hours.
