The Teachers and Educational Workers Union (TEWU)\u00a0 has raised issues with the non-payment of their second tier pension contributions by the Ghana Education Service (GES).<\/p>\n
TEWU is accusing the GES of failing to release the second tier contributions to the Union since the inception of the new pension scheme in 2011.<\/p>\n
Speaking to Citi News<\/strong>, the Deputy General Secretary of TEWU, Augustine Kabo said TEWU members will advise themselves appropriately if their concerns are not addressed soon.<\/p>\n He revealed that the Union has succeeded in establishing the \u201cFund custodian, the trustee and have put other structures in place to run that scheme for the benefit of the TEWU members.\u201d<\/p>\n Mr. Kabo wondered how TEWU members due for retirement next year will be paid their pensions as a result of the challenge they are facing.<\/p>\n The TEWU Deputy General Secretary told Citi News, he suspects the delay is a \u201cdeliberate attempt to frustrate the workers.\u201d<\/p>\n He therefore urged government and the GES to give them a detailed reason for the delay adding that \u201cwe are sounding the alarm because we have restrained our members within the Ghana Education Service; the non teaching staff to some extent.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe cannot restrain them forever,\u201d Mr. Kabo warned.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n By: Efua Idan Osam\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana
