{"id":222627,"date":"2016-06-15T14:40:02","date_gmt":"2016-06-15T14:40:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=222627"},"modified":"2016-06-15T14:40:02","modified_gmt":"2016-06-15T14:40:02","slug":"mahama-inaugurates-1500-housing-units-at-saglemi-photos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/06\/mahama-inaugurates-1500-housing-units-at-saglemi-photos\/","title":{"rendered":"Mahama inaugurates 1,500 housing units at Ningo [Photos]"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>President John Mahama has inaugurated 1,500 housing units at Ningo in the Greater Accra Region as part of the phase one of \u00a0the affordable housing project.<\/p>\n<p>The entire project is expected to produce 5,000 housing units for low and middle income earners in the country.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-222645 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/6.png\" alt=\"6\" width=\"630\" height=\"437\" \/><\/p>\n<p>President Mahama cut sod for the project in 2013 when he said the construction was aimed at halving Ghana\u2019s 1.7 million housing deficit by 2016.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-222637 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/2-2.png\" alt=\"2\" width=\"826\" height=\"428\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the inauguration which formed part of the President\u2019s accounting to the people tour of the Greater Accra Region on Tuesday, he said other housing units under\u00a0construction will help solve the nation\u2019s housing deficit.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-222643 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/4.png\" alt=\"4\" width=\"651\" height=\"430\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe cut the sod a few years ago for work to begin and work has been ongoing. It\u2019s supposed to be the first phase which is 1,500 housing units, the entire project is 5,000 units, and we started with 1,500 units. These are some of the 1,500 units you can see physically. I\u2019m saying physically because there are some people who see but refuse to see and they said these buildings are photoshop. After this visit, I don\u2019t know what else they will do; maybe they will photoshop the building behind me as I stand here but these are real.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-222644 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/5.png\" alt=\"5\" width=\"390\" height=\"584\" \/><\/p>\n<p>He said \u201cif they like, I can organize an excursion for them to come here and see for themselves what is happening here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>President Mahama added that there are other housing units government was building including \u201cthe Nyameduah Estate at Kpong, we have the Labadi Villas, we are completing the affordable housing units that President Kufuor left for us, State Housing Corporation has finished their part and SSNIT is working on the other part to finish it. All these housing units will be made available to the people of Ghana to solve our housing problems.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-222636 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/1-3.png\" alt=\"1\" width=\"648\" height=\"430\" \/><\/p>\n<p>President Mahama also announced the construction of a 2,000 acre industrial free zone enclave in the area.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-222646 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/7.png\" alt=\"7\" width=\"651\" height=\"435\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Just down the street we are starting a new industrial free zones enclave and I\u2019m sure when you pass there you will see work ongoing.
