{"id":22246,"date":"2014-06-03T13:34:53","date_gmt":"2014-06-03T13:34:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=22246"},"modified":"2014-06-03T13:34:53","modified_gmt":"2014-06-03T13:34:53","slug":"npp-to-embark-on-ya-y3-mo-d3n-demo-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/06\/npp-to-embark-on-ya-y3-mo-d3n-demo-2\/","title":{"rendered":"NPP to embark on ya y3 mo d3n demo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Ashanti Regional Branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will embark on a demonstration to protest the worsening energy situation in the country.<\/p>\n<p>The demonstration has been dubbed \u201cya y3 mo d3n demo\u201d which literally means, \u201cWhat have we done?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ghanaians have been experiencing erratic power supply due to the failure of power generation companies to meet the nation\u2019s growing energy demand.<\/p>\n<p>Ghana\u2019s current electricity demand stands at over 2000 megawatts (MW) \u00a0while its Electricity demand \u00a0is presumed to be growing at a rate of 10%.<\/p>\n<p>This situation is however expected to worsen in coming weeks after authorities at the Bui\u00a0 Dam announced plans to reduce production capacity \u00a0due to the low level of the \u00a0Bui reservoir.<\/p>\n<p>This mechanism according to the Bui power authority is to protect the turbines at the Bui Dam from any potential damage.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to Citi FM, the Ashanti Regional Secretary of the NPP, Samuel Payne disclosed that \u201cthe Ashanti region has been singled out as the worst affected place where the load shedding is taking place\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He further added that \u201cBusiness are collapsing, private properties are been destroyed, there is absolute hardship in the region.<\/p>\n<p>The group also intends to use the demonstration to draw the president\u2019s attention to the unbearable hardship in the region.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>By: Benjamin Epton Owusu\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/b><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Ashanti Regional Branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will embark on a demonstration to protest the worsening energy situation in the country.
