{"id":222420,"date":"2016-06-14T19:48:31","date_gmt":"2016-06-14T19:48:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=222420"},"modified":"2016-06-14T19:48:31","modified_gmt":"2016-06-14T19:48:31","slug":"air-force-recruits-in-steeple-chase-ahead-of-graduation-photos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/06\/air-force-recruits-in-steeple-chase-ahead-of-graduation-photos\/","title":{"rendered":"Air Force recruits in steeple chase ahead of graduation [Photos]"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A total of 286 recruits of the Ghana Air Force last Friday participated in the 2016 Steeple Chase competition at the Air Force Training Grounds in Takoradi.<\/p>\n<p>The exercise is an annual competition meant to test the endurance and team spirit of recruits.<\/p>\n<p>It also presents the opportunity for individual recruits and squadrons to exhibit their readiness to overcome natural and artificial obstacles in their line of duty.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-222433 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/military-graduates-in-western-region-7.png\" alt=\"military graduates in western region (7)\" width=\"894\" height=\"503\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Recruits of each of the six squadrons, MI, Falcon, Diamond, Forkker, CASA and K8 had to overcome over 8 different levels of obstacles.<\/p>\n<p>The recruits passed through River Funko, carried a 20kg sand bag each over a three hundred meters distance to arrive at the Scramble Net.<\/p>\n<p>Successful completion of this stage presented a new test of endurance, the Fire Ditch, recruits were made to jump over a plume of fire fueled constantly by accelerant from a nearby senior officer to produce oppressive heat.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-222423 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/military-graduates-in-western-region-1.png\" alt=\"military graduates in western region (1)\" width=\"894\" height=\"503\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The chase then gets to the Belly Crawl Rope. Recruits proceeds from here to other stages concurrently till the final stage where they complete it with rounds of press-ups.<\/p>\n<p>After the over 1 hour competition, recruit Alex Agyapong from the MI Squadron emerged first in the male division.<\/p>\n<p>He won the 2016 Steeple Chase with a time of One hour, three minutes and two seconds.<\/p>\n<p>Recruit Victoria Olodoku also from the MI Squadron was the winner in the female division with a time of one hour and eighteen minutes.
