<\/p>\nUS-based national taekwondo practitioner David Koney Adjetey, is set to share his experiences in sports and academia with students of the Presbyterian Boy\u2019s Secondary School at the third edition of Liquid Sports Ghana\u2019s innovative seminar dubbed, \u201cMaking it Happen\u201d on Tuesday, 14th June, 2016 at 7:00am.<\/p>\n
The reigning Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) male taekwondo player of the year, is expected to bring his rich experience to bear on the event having competed at the very highest level in taekwondo-including the World Championships- while studying to achieve his goals in life with the participants at the one-day event to inspire, motivate and educate them.<\/p>\n
Adjetey won a silver medal at the 2015 All Africa Games in Congo-Brazzaville, which was an improvement over the bronze medal he won at the 2007 All African Games in Algiers.<\/p>\n
In a distinguished career which has seen him competing for the national team since 1991, David has competed in some of the top taekwondo championships in the world including but not restricted to the World Taekwondo Championships, US Open Taekwondo Championship, Olympic Continental qualifiers, African Taekwondo Championships and the All African Games.<\/p>\n
For his dedication and hard work, he was awarded a Rio 2016 scholarship by the Ghana Olympic Committee to help him prepare towards the upcoming Rio 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil.<\/p>\n
Alongside Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris and Rio 2016 Paralympic Games bound Alem Mumuni, the trio will seek to inspire the students by sharing their experiences with them while answering questions from their audience.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Director of Sports of the University of Ghana, Legon (UG), Dr. Bella Bello Bitugu, will also educate the participants about UG\u2019s admission policy for sportsmen\/women at the function.<\/p>\n
As with the two previous editions of the \u201cMaking it Happen seminar,\u201d Dr. Bitugu is expected to lecture the students about the importance of sacrifice, hard work, combining education and sports to achieve one\u2019s goals in life.<\/p>\n

About \u2018Making it Happen\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n In a related development, the Managing Editor of liquidsportsghana.com, Erasmus Kwaw, has said his outfit is excited to be staging the third edition of the \u201cMaking it Happen\u201d seminar.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re delighted to organise the third edition of this wonderful programme to inspire, motivate and educate these students thanks to Cowbell, Ethiopian Airlines and our partners from the Embassy of Japan and Brazil Embassy, all our other partners,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cBy using sport as a tool to educate and empower young students, \u201cMaking it Happen\u201d aims to foster young people\u2019s interest and understanding of the importance of combining education and sports, inspire them to be responsible citizens and play an active role in sharing what they have learned with their communities.\u201d<\/p>\n This follows the success of the maiden \u201cMaking it Happen\u201d programme held at Accra Academy on 10th March, 2016, and the second edition at the Labone Secondary School.<\/p>\n The guest list for the programme also includes the Ministry of Youth and Sports, National Sports Authority, Ghana Olympic Committee, National Paralympic Committee, Embassy of Japan, Brazil Embassy, among others.<\/p>\n Themed on the philosophy of Olympism as a way of life, the programme aims to exalt and combine in a balanced whole the qualities of body, will and mind.<\/p>\n Blending sport with culture and education, \u2018Making it Happen\u2019 seeks to create a way of life based on the joy found in effort, the educational value of good example and respect for universal fundamental ethical principles.<\/p>\n In conformity with the goal of the Olympic Movement, Making it Happen aims to contribute to building a peaceful and better world by educating youth through sport practiced without discrimination of any kind and in the Olympic spirit, which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play.
