{"id":222019,"date":"2016-06-13T15:48:56","date_gmt":"2016-06-13T15:48:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=222019"},"modified":"2016-06-13T15:48:56","modified_gmt":"2016-06-13T15:48:56","slug":"education-minister-tours-bece-centres-advises-candidates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/06\/education-minister-tours-bece-centres-advises-candidates\/","title":{"rendered":"Education Minister tours BECE centres, advises candidates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thousands of Junior High School students across the country commenced this year&#8217;s\u00a0Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) today [Monday].<\/p>\n<p>The Minister of Education, Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, toured various centres in the Greater Accra Region with the media.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-222024\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/2dd36991-d8a0-4d34-b08e-d55e2920ce06.jpg\" alt=\"2dd36991-d8a0-4d34-b08e-d55e2920ce06\" width=\"600\" height=\"404\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Citi News<\/strong>\u2019 Kojo Agyeman, who was part of the tour reported that the examinations had taken off without any hitches in the centers been visited.<\/p>\n<p>He also noted that some of the measures that the Ghana Education Service (GES) had proposed to curb examination malpractices were being implemented.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-222023\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/e28f47db-fe2d-4a10-98a3-7067654f1b5f.jpg\" alt=\"e28f47db-fe2d-4a10-98a3-7067654f1b5f\" width=\"600\" height=\"410\" \/><\/p>\n<p>For instance, invigilators were seen to be without their mobile phones whilst teachers who accompanied their students to the centres were not allowed near the students and the examination halls.<\/p>\n<p>During the tour, the Education Minister had a word of advice for the candidates. She urged them to focus on their academics and shun sexual activities that could result in teenage pregnancy and jeopardize their education.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-222022\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/d3978bfd-6fad-46ec-9ba0-a85b7f444514.jpg\" alt=\"d3978bfd-6fad-46ec-9ba0-a85b7f444514\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou are too young to start growing babies in your bodies. Your bodies have not finished growing. Give yourselves time,\u201d Prof. Opoku Agyemang\u00a0said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour parents are not expecting you to bring babies to them. They expect you to bring good results that take you higher and higher. The time will come for the babies. It is not now so take your time.
