Ms Dzifa Abla Gomashie, a Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, has handed over a renovated library block, stocked with books and computers, to the Avoeme Basic School, in Aflao.<\/p>\n
The 100-seat facility, Patrick and Helen Gomashie Future Leaders Library, was named after the Minister\u2019s parents.<\/p>\n
The library block was constructed from an abandoned classroom.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”fvgecqUkcMAHLkJBmkBSNWEVmhXAHeau”]Mr Richard Dzorkpe, the Assistant Headmaster of the School, expressed gratitude to the Minister for the gesture, saying the facility was the first of its kind in the Municipality.<\/p>\n
Ms Gomashie said the inauguration of the facility coincided with her late mother’s birthday.<\/p>\n
She said the project was in fulfilment of a promise she made to her late mother to provide a library for the School to immortalise the memories of her parents, who were once teachers of the School.<\/p>\n
She urged the teachers and parents to help the children inculcate the habit of reading and appealed to the management of the School to allow children in the community to access the facility.<\/p>\n
Nanahemaa Adwoa Awindor, a broadcaster, said it was an investment that would yield results for the community and improve on the lives of students.<\/p>\n
The chief of Avoeme, Togbe Anugbo IV, who was the chairman of the occasion, commended the Minister for her continuous support to the community.<\/p>\n
