Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia running mate to New Patriotic Party (NPP’s) flagbearer has said his boss; Nana Akufo-Addo is not seeking power for his own parochial reasons.

“Nana Akufo-Addo is not in politics because of his stomach. Everybody knows he is incorruptible and I’m very glad to provide him with support,” he added in an exclusive interview on the Citi Breakfast Show on Friday.

Dr. Bawumia explained that Nana Addo and the NPP are seeking power to transform Ghana’s economy into an enviable one within the West African sub-region.

He said if it was a matter of enriching himself, Nana Akufo-Addo will not really be in politics since “he is not someone who is there for making money. He’s very honest, a man of integrity and very focused on delivering a vision.”

The NPP running mate also promised among others, his party, when given the opportunity, will remove what he described as “nuisance taxes.”

He also pleaded on Ghanaians to try the NPP since they have the solutions to alleviate the plight of Ghanaians.

“We really mean what we say about wanting to transform this economy. We want to relieve Ghanaians of their hardships. If you look today, teachers are suffering, teacher trainees are suffering, fishermen, nurses, cocoa farmers, labourers, and drivers are all suffering. Prices are much higher today during the NPP era. And so we want to bring in a transformative agenda to make Ghana most business and people friendly across Africa. And we are asking for support from Ghanaians for Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP to bring this change that we need so badly in Ghana,” he added.
