A police officer was on Tuesday morning shot dead along the Kwame Danso-Atebubu road in the Brong Ahafo Region.<\/p>\n
The officer was said to be serving as an escort for a commercial bus.<\/p>\n
Owusu Achiaw, a commercial bus driver on the Kwame Danso-Atebubu road who narrated the incident to Citi News<\/strong> said the attack happened around 6:40am.<\/p>\n [contextly_sidebar id=”ibyL0vwErLptSxSmVdBPN8GXkb0zDIfL”]”We were heading to Kwame Danso from from Atebubu when we got to a place called Galidema and someone stopped us and shouted at us saying armed robbers. But when I looked at the man, I thought he had a mental problem so I did not stop. But a few minutes after that, I saw another person shouting the same thing so I stopped. After stopping I saw a vehicle coming ahead of us with top speed with the boot and side door opened. The driver came to park close to a mango tree close to where I had parked. I approached him and asked what the matter was. He was wailing and told me that a policeman had been killed.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cHe explained that armed robbers attacked them and a policeman in the car was shot. He said the police was sitting on the front seat when the incident occurred and he was shot dead while other passengers were robbed of their monies, mobile phones and other valuables,\u201d Owusu Achiaw.<\/p>\n According the commercial bus driver, these attacks are rampant along that stretch of the highway and he attributed them to the poor nature of the roads.<\/p>\n \u201cThe distance between Kwame Danso to Atebubu is not far but the road is not good, that is why these armed robbers have taken opportunity and robbing people there,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n –<\/p>\n By: Godwin A.
