The Campaign Manager of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Peter Mac Manu, has denied reports that his party intends to declare its own results during the general elections in November.<\/p>\n
Media reports surfaced indicating that the NPP Campaign Manager, speaking to a group of supporters in Takoradi, Western Region, declared that his party would defy authority in the country, including the Electoral Commission (EC), to declare its own election results.<\/p>\n

Parallel vote tabulation<\/strong><\/p>\n In an interview with Citi News<\/strong>, he clarified his statements in Takoradi saying, \u201cWe are going to collate our own parallel results, what we call parallel vote tabulation.\u201d<\/p>\n Mr. Mac Manu explained that the party’s plans to declare parallel results will be possible \u201cbecause for the first time, we expect the electoral commission to post results at every polling station when it is declared by the presiding officers.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cSo we will take all the 29,000 polling station results declared by the Electoral Commission’s own presiding officer and collate our own parallel results to compare with what the EC is declaring,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n ‘We have always been collating our own parallel results’<\/strong><\/p>\n Mr. Mac Manu also noted that his party’s plan to declare results parallel to the EC is not alien to Ghanaian politics because it is something the NPP and some civil society organizations have done before.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have always been collating our own parallel results and we are not the only one. CODEO [The Coalition of Domestic Election Observers] does it.
