Majority Leader in Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has predicted a resounding second-term victory for President John Dramani Mahama in the November 2016 general election.

Speaking at a programme to inaugurate “a youth working committee” for his constituency, the outspoken and one of the longest serving lawmakers, in the Upper West Region, described President Mahama as “a dedicated humble leader” who is committed to developing Ghana.

According to him, his former colleague Bole Bamboi legislator, has proven enough competence in the socio-economic and political management of the country in his reign as president.

“Those who are in fantasy world, the dream land; those of them who are chasing mirages please advice yourselves,” Mr. Bagbin who is also the MP for Nadowli-Kaleo stated.

"alban

The Majority Leader told Citi News’ Upper West Regional Correspondent, Latif Mahama, that he will be leading a campaign delegation to 42 constituencies in the next couple of days to solicit votes for President Mahama.

Mr. Bagbin was among the first people to criticize Mahama’s style of leadership soon after he assumed the presidency in January 2013.

He now says, “I am more than confident that this election will not go a second round. I am among the first voices to raise the alarm bells about the need for his Excellency to review some things and move in the right direction, which he, with extreme humility complied with and made sure proper things were put in place; and in doing that I saw the humility in this gentleman, he did not in any way try to show that he had the whole power of the nation at his disposal.”

The NPP’s Peter Mac Manu disagrees

But the Campaign Manager of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP, Peter Mac Manu, says majority of the Ghanaian electorate are eager to vote massively for the main opposition party and make Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo the next president of Ghana.

“NPP is coming back to power and nobody, whether the Electoral Commission, the police or gangsters, can stop the NPP from clinching victory in the country’s upcoming general election.

“I am saying this because wherever I have been to in the country, majority of the people are determined to vote for the NPP; and the voice of the people is the voice of God and no one can stand in the way of God,” the NPP campaign manager affirmed.

"Peter
Peter Mac Manu

Mr. Mac Manu made the prediction whiles addressing members of the Takoradi Polytechnic (T-Poly) chapter of the Tertiary Education Students Confederacy (TESCON) of the NPP during the handing over ceremony of the old T-Poly TESCON executives to the incoming ones.

According to him, Ghanaians have been thrown into pitiable state of discomfort and misery by the Mahama administration and that they cannot afford four more years of suffering under the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Mr. Mac Manu said even though he has been receiving several calls about some alleged machinations of the NDC to rig the elections, he is not worried as Ghanaians have made up their minds to vote massively for change.

He questioned why NDC activists claim the NPP does not have any campaign message or manifesto, stressing that “This year’s election is not about the NPP’s message; but rather about the eight-year rule of the NDC. The ruling party should tell Ghanaians what they have done to improve the people’s living conditions for the past eight years.”
