A reverend minister and his daughter have been arrested by the Keta Police Command as accomplices in a recruitment scam in which some\u00a0290 people\u00a0in the Keta and Ketu South Municipalities of the Volta Region have been swindled.<\/p>\n
Already, one Mr. Elias, a\u00a0Headteacher at the Keta Zion Basic School, has been arrested for the\u00a0alleged extortion of the\u00a0over GHc300, 000 from prospective recruits with the promise of securing them non-existent jobs in the country’s security services.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”XALXvjkA63UuNIDoD1AWiq6rbTlhgqYU”]Mr. Elias upon interrogations revealed he and one other person were contracted by a high ranking official\u00a0of the Ghana Arm Forces to assist in recruiting the youth in the area.<\/p>\n
The Keta Police Commander, Supt. Jonathan Quaye, said further probing was carried out leading to the arrest of the other accomplices including Rev Andrews Tetteh, a reverend minister at the AME Zion Church atAmutsinu; a community between Keta and Denu together with his daughter Lucy Tetteh.<\/p>\n
Lucy was said to have introduced her suitor; one Dr. Edem Tamakloe, who claimed to be an employee of the 37 Military Hospital to his father.<\/p>\n
Her suitor later told her and the\u00a0father \u00a0of some job placements in the military, and that his Uncle in the military could\u00a0be a conduit for them to recruit some youth in the area.<\/p>\n
Rev. Andrews Tetteh upon receiving the supposed ‘good news’, also introduced Elias Bidah into the business.<\/p>\n
The police are holding the suspects as investigations into the incident continues.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile the Keta Police Commander has warned the general public to be wary of criminals recruiting people and report\u00a0them to the appropriate authorities.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe police urges members of the general public to seriously cooperate to clamp down such miscreants.<\/p>\n
