{"id":219076,"date":"2016-06-02T10:50:35","date_gmt":"2016-06-02T10:50:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=219076"},"modified":"2016-06-02T10:50:35","modified_gmt":"2016-06-02T10:50:35","slug":"robbers-gun-down-mofa-officer-in-kumasi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/06\/robbers-gun-down-mofa-officer-in-kumasi\/","title":{"rendered":"Robbers gun down MoFA officer in Kumasi"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"itemIntroText\">\n<p>In yet another bloody attack in the Ashanti Region, suspected armed robbers on Tuesday evening shot dead a 41-year-old man at his residence at Abuontem New Site, near Aputuogya in the Bosomtwe District.<\/p>\n<p>Joseph Baah Tweneboah, the Metropolitan Crop Officer of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA), was shot at point blank\u00a0range killing him\u00a0instantly.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"itemFullText\">\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;9MSXIpwpWDhc4ojveMsmEtDjT9V3oLxN&#8221;]The incident is the third in about two months in which armed robbers had attacked and killed their victims in Kumasi and its surrounding communities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Victim trailed<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A father of six, Tweneboah is said to have been trailed by the armed men from his office in Kumasi after closing from work to his residence about 7:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>According to the widow, Esther Adomako, just when her husband had arrived in his Toyota pick-up at the entrance of the house, three masked men confronted him.<\/p>\n<p>They took away his laptop, four mobile phones and an unspecified amount of money.<\/p>\n<p>While the robbers were demanding for more money from Tweneboah, his family\u00a0appeared on the scene to plead with the attackers.<\/p>\n<p>Jokingly, one of the children retorted, \u201cAs for this house, we don\u2019t have money; all that we have are goats and other agric products.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Apparently angered by the child\u2019s statement, one of the robbers gave the children and the woman sound beatings and ordered them to move to the room.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Tweneboah was then dragged to the living room and shot multiple times in the chest.<\/p>\n<p>The traumatized widow told the\u00a0Daily Graphic\u00a0that she hid close to the window, so that she could see what would happen to her husband.<\/p>\n<p>Two of the children and the woman who had bruises were treated and discharged at the St Michael Hospital at Pramso in the Bosomtwe District.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Confirmation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Confirming the incident, the District Police Commander for Kuntenase, ASP Mr Asiamah Amponsah, said 10 minutes after the robbery attack, the command received a distress call.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI quickly dispatched two patrol teams to the crime scene and they confirmed the crime.
