An Accra Circuit Court, on Friday remanded Prophet Daniel Nkansah, flagbearer of the New Vision Party (NVP), in police custody until June 2, on a charge of robbery leveled against him, after turning down a bail application filed by his lawyer,

The court in February this year, ordered the arrest of Prophet Nkansah who was said to be at large, for failing to appear before it.

Prophet Nkansah and his son Daniel Boahene Nkansah Junior are being held on charges of conspiracy to commit crime, and five counts of robbery.

The son, a student, who appeared before the court earlier, pleaded not guilty to the charges, at the court presided over by Mr Francis Obiri, is on bail.

Prophet Nkansah has pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to commit crime, and five counts of robbery.

Prophet Nkansah, his son and 10 others, are said to have robbed five workers of XY Canis Majoris Company Limited, and taken away a sunny video camera, mobile phones, computers, cheque books, certificates, a driver’s license and GH₡1,000.00.

The complainants were Stephen Ped Andam, Geshon Essel, Billy Apeku Ken, Isaac Tetteh Korgbey and Emmanuel Nana Kwaku Badu.

According to the prosecution, Mr Andam is the Chief Executive Officer of XY Majoris Company Limited located at Atico near Kaneshie.

Mr Andam in December last year, rented four stores from Prophet Nkansah for a period of 10 years and paid GH¢111,680 as rent advance.

The prosecution said the company was now using three out of the four stores whilst Prophet Nkansah’s son, Nkansah Junior occupied one of them.

On February 1, Mr Andam and his workers approached Nkansah Junior as agreed with Prophet Nkansah to vacate the store to enable his workers to move in.

After the meeting, a brawl ensued but after it Mr Andam and his workers resumed work in their offices.

Nkansah Junior informed his father about the brawl. Prophet Nkansah therefore, went to the company’s premises with a group of about 10 on board his (Prophet Nkansah’s) pick up vehicle, armed with cutlasses and other implements, and attacked Mr Andam and five other workers.

In the process, prosecution said, the accused persons and the group of men made away with Mr Andam’s mobile phone, a computer with its charger, cheque books, an international driver’s license, one IPad and cash of GH¢55,000.00.

They also took away Mr Essel’s mobile phone and GH¢500.00, whilst Mr Billy Ken Apeku had his phone, a computer and cash of GH¢700.00 stolen.

According to the prosecutor, they also took from Mr Korgbey, a computer and a Sony video camera and robbed Mr Emmanuel Nana Kweku Badu of his wallet containing GH¢1,000.00 with identity cards.

The matter was reported to the Police, and Nkansah Junior was arrested on February 4, with a sonny video camera retrieved from him later.
