The National Democratic Congress Member of Parliament for the Keta constituency, Richard Quashigah says his party’s flags fixed on several poles and vantage points in the area were conspicuously replaced with that of the New Patriotic Party during Nana Addo’s tour of the region.

“…I observed unfortunately that flags that we had hoisted were all removed nefariously at midnight. By day break on Saturday, all our flags were off, in their place and we saw NPP flags. At the time we didn’t even know that Nana Akufo Addo had intentions of visiting the Keta constituency and municipality in general,” he said.

[contextly_sidebar id=”scBP5ccyLXNhZ7tu2ciasD5JHnsZ9AYx”]Though he could not categorically blame the NPP for the change of flags due to lack of evidence, Mr. Quashigah said “you expect people naturally to be suspicious of the NPP because their flagbearer had intentions of visiting the area and suddenly our flags had disappeared and their flags were in the positions of those flags that had disappeared.”

He further described the action as “hooliganism and a sign of bad fate.”

The NPP flagbearer, Nana Addo, embarked on a four-day tour of the NDC’s stronghold Volta Region, where he addressed a rally of supporters and sympathizers.

Nana Addo used the opportunity to plead with the people in the region to vote massively for the NPP in the November polls, adding that they will not be neglected when the NPP wins power.

But Mr. Quashigah while speaking on the Point Blank segment on Eyewitness News, accused the NPP of “busing people from other places” to the venue which resulted in the huge crowd that attended Nana Addo’s rallies in the area.

“If you bus people from all over the southern zone; from Akatsi, Ketu North and South and you bring all these people to come and congregate at the Angloga market on a market day, you have achieved nothing, it’s cost ninety. On a market day and you decided to hold your rally within the market, what do you expect. Of course those who have come to market would want to see what is going on, so it is not surprising at all.”

“…if you bring all these people in, you are just deceiving yourself,” he added.

He also said crowds do not mean anything in politics hence such crowds would not inure to the benefit of the NPP in the November general elections.
