Government<\/span> says it is fully prepared for Friday\u2019s emergency Economic Community Of West African States (ECOWAS) heads of state meeting in Accra.<\/p>\n

The President, John Mahama who is also the ECOWAS chairman has summoned an emergency ECOWAS meeting to discuss the upsurge in the activities of Islamist Militant group, Boko Haram in Nigeria.<\/p>\n

The sub-regional heads of state are also expected to discuss issues affecting all member states.<\/p>\n

Presidential Spokesperson, Ben Dotse Malor on Eyewitness News<\/strong> said the leaders of all 15-member states have all been invited.<\/p>\n

He indicated that one of the primary aims of President Mahama as ECOWAS chair is to ensure peace in the sub-region which will subsequently aid development and boost investor confidence.<\/p>\n

\u201cPresident Mahama believes strongly that for investors to bring in the investments that can make our society better create jobs and lead to the sustainable developments we need, they [investors] want to see stable, secure and democratic nations,\u201d said Mr. Malor.<\/p>\n

The Presidential spokesperson also mentioned that the heads of states will deliberate on effective ways of averting threats of terrorist attacks.<\/p>\n

Issues regarding infrastructural<\/span> development in the sub-region will also be considered with attention on the West African Gas pipeline and energy supply.<\/p>\n

This is the first meeting President Mahama is organizing for member states in Ghana since assuming the chairman position of the regional community.<\/p>\n
