Lawyer for the 16-year-old boy who was allegedly brutalized by some soldiers, Francis Xavier Sosu has said they are not satisfied with the military’s decision to internally punish the two officers.<\/p>\n
According to Mr. Sosu his outfit is waiting for a report from the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ)\u00a0where they believe justice will be better served.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”WeACBfZoVI2Kh6R2vAphJHd47CJ5Hqnr”]Christopher Bam, the 16-year-old boy was brutalized by some military officers at Tamale in the Northern Region for allegedly stealing a Techno mobile phone.<\/p>\n
He was rushed to Nsawam Government Hospital for treatment and later discharged.<\/p>\n
The Ghana Armed Forces found the soldiers guilty after investigating into the matter but his lawyer, Francis Xavier in an interview with Citi News said they will advise themselves based on the recommendations of CHRAJ.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe action taken by the leadership of the military is completely different from what is going on\u2026the military has the right to commission an internal investigation into the matter and set up an internal enquiry and internal measures against hose officers. What is before CHRAJ has to do with the human right violation particularly violation of Article 15 of the 1992 Constitution and violation of the UN convention against torture and all forms of cruel and inhumane treatment.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cSo we are looking forward to the outcome and the recommendation of the CHRAJ investigation. It is based on that, that we will advise ourselves whether to go to court and ask for compensation for the victims or not,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
