The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), in the Brong Ahafo Region, has rescued 15 persons who went\u00a0missing after a boat they were traveling in last night, capsized on the Volta Lake at Yeji in the Pru District.<\/p>\n
Four people died in the boat accident. According to NADMO, the deceased persons included a a 3-year old child, a man and two women.<\/p>\n
NADMO says it has commenced\u00a0investigations into the accident which occurred when some travelers were being ferried across the lake, in a canoe to Makango in the Gonja East district.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”o88VseLwZgWbEnVwFwWi5QmLK8jZILsx”]The Coordinator of NADMO for the Brong Ahafo Region, Felix Osei Asiedu, told\u00a0Citi News<\/strong>\u00a0some\u00a0officials have been dispatched to the area to assist with investigations.<\/p>\n In Feburary this year, nearly five hundred passengers would have perished on board a Yeji-bound ferry <\/a><\/strong><\/span>from Makango near Tamale, but for the swift intervention of rescuers.<\/p>\n The ferry, reported to have been overloaded with about four cars, other cargo and passengers, started sinking due to a leakage.<\/p>\n
