The District Chief Executive[DCE] for Gushegu, Alhassan Fuseini has confirmed that there were violent clashes\u00a0in the Gushegu township but \u00a0insisted the situation was under control.<\/p>\n
Three[3] people on Tuesday were reportedly killed while\u00a0several houses\u00a0got burnt due to clashes\u00a0between the Yiyamba and Berimba communities in the Gushegu district of the Northern Region.region.<\/p>\n
Two other persons\u00a0who were injured are also responding to treatment at the Gushegu Government Hospital.<\/p>\n
The\u00a0Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) ASP Ebenezer Tetteh\u00a0has \u00a0also\u00a0confirmed the incident\u00a0and revealed\u00a0that it was a result of long standing chieftaincy disputes in the area.<\/p>\n
Speaking on the Wednesday edition of the Eyewitness News the DCE of the Gushegu area, Hon Fuseini revealed that \u201cGushegu has had its problems since 2008 since the last administration we came and then made it normal. This has erupted mainly as a parcel of land, and this happens in every district in this part of the country\u201d<\/p>\n
He also added that, this development was nothing to worry about since the area had held several elections without any hindrance.<\/p>\n
