Accra Brewery Limited (ABL) has joined the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) to commemorate the 2016 World Press Freedom Day celebrations.<\/p>\n
The day was observed under the theme \u201cAccess to Information and Fundamental Freedoms: This is your right\u201d at the International Press Centre in Accra.<\/p>\n
ABL as part of its support towards the celebration donated a cash amount of GHC10, 000.00 and assorted cases of its brands for refreshing journalists during the events marking the commemoration.<\/p>\n
World Press Freedom Day, observed every May 3, across the world, reflects and evaluates the fundamental principles of press freedom around the world; \u00a0defending the media from attacks on their independence as well as an opportunity to pay tribute to journalists who lost their lives in the line of duty.<\/p>\n
The Corporate Affairs\u00a0 Manager of Accra Brewery and Voltic (GH) Limited, Mr. Cyrus deGraft-Johnson, who attended\u00a0 the flag raising ceremony congratulated media practitioners whose desire in collecting \u00a0and disseminating valuable information enables businesses\u00a0 and individuals to strategise and make well informed decisions that have a positive impact on the Ghanaian economy.<\/p>\n
He indicated that \u2018Accra Brewery has been supporting the World Press Freedom Day for the past 8 years.<\/p>\n
We have over the years equally demonstrated consistency and support for the media fraternity in the country with our annual assistance towards the GJA Awards as well as sponsorship of the Best Reporter in Arts & Entertainment category.
