{"id":21211,"date":"2014-05-28T11:31:08","date_gmt":"2014-05-28T11:31:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=21211"},"modified":"2014-05-28T11:31:08","modified_gmt":"2014-05-28T11:31:08","slug":"free-zones-board-to-ensure-compliance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/05\/free-zones-board-to-ensure-compliance\/","title":{"rendered":"Free Zones Board to ensure compliance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Authorities at the Ghana Free Zones Board have resolved to ensure maximum compliance of rules and regulations by all companies operating under their ambit.<\/p>\n<p>According to the acting Deputy Executive Secretary, Obuobia Darko-Opoku the board\u00a0will be firm in ensuring\u00a0compliance to\u00a0prevent the nation from being\u00a0 short-changed by operators within the free Zones enclave, whilst also ensuring growth for the companies.<\/p>\n<p>According to Madam Obuobia Darko \u2013Opoku ,\u201cit has been noted over the years that a number of the free zones operators flout the free zones rules and regulations as well as that of other collaborating agencies\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>She made this known at a training workshop for licensed Free Zone enterprises within the northern sector of the country in Kumasi.<\/p>\n<p>She explained that some of the Board had noticed that some of the companies in the enclave\u00a0seem to fully appreciate the rules and regulations governing their operations.<\/p>\n<p>This comes few weeks after the special Presidential taskforce on revenue collection exposed some free Zones companies that were abusing their privileges under the law by evading taxes.<\/p>\n<p>Participants at the workshop were taken through various compliance rules by officials from the board, Immigration , GCNet, and Ghana Revenue authority.<\/p>\n<p>Officials of Immigration service, customs section of the GRA and the the Free Zones board educated participants on the various rules and guidelines that govern their oprations.
