{"id":211683,"date":"2016-05-05T14:11:30","date_gmt":"2016-05-05T14:11:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=211683"},"modified":"2016-05-05T14:11:30","modified_gmt":"2016-05-05T14:11:30","slug":"tolon-rainstorm-rips-off-roofs-of-school-buildings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/05\/tolon-rainstorm-rips-off-roofs-of-school-buildings\/","title":{"rendered":"Tolon rainstorm rips off roofs of school buildings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A severe Rainstorm has ripped off several school buildings and some households in the Tolon District of the Northern Region.<\/p>\n<p>The Kpalsogu Zion primary, Gbrumanchaguyili English and Arabic, Dundo and Dimabi primary schools are among the worst affected schools.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-211714 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/rain-rips-of-tolon-school-roof-1.jpg\" alt=\"rain rips of tolon school roof (1)\" width=\"567\" height=\"425\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Immediate renovation is required to prevent students of the affected schools from being compelled to study under trees as basic schools reopen next Tuesday, May 10.<\/p>\n<p>The rainstorm also uprooted electricity polls at Gbrimani, Kpachiyili and Woribogu Kukuo.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-211716 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/rain-rips-of-tolon-school-roof-3.jpg\" alt=\"rain rips of tolon school roof (3)\" width=\"603\" height=\"452\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Tolon constituency, Wahab Suhuyini Wumbei during a tour of the affected communities called for the Ministry of Education\u2019s rapid response.<\/p>\n<p>He recalled that a similar disaster in 2014 ripped off the roofs of nine schools in the district and commended the Ministry of Education for the renovation.<\/p>\n<p>He promised to team up with the District Assembly and the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) to support the victims.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-211715 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/rain-rips-of-tolon-school-roof-2.jpg\" alt=\"rain rips of tolon school roof (2)\" width=\"583\" height=\"437\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Wahab Suhuyini Wumbei advised residents of the district to plant trees in their neighborhood to serve as windbreaks.<\/p>\n<p>Head teacher of Gbrumanchaguyili English and Arabic school, Norgah Abukari concluded that the situation would affect the academic calendar.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-211718 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/rain-rips-of-tolon-school-roof-5.jpg\" alt=\"rain rips of tolon school roof (5)\" width=\"534\" height=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<p>He said the school needed teaching and learning materials because the materials had been affected by the water and further\u00a0pleaded with government and benevolent organizations to renovate the school.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Abdul Karim Naatogmah\/Citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A severe Rainstorm has ripped off several school buildings and some households in the Tolon District of the Northern Region.
