The Registrar of Births and Deaths, John Agbeko, has refuted claims that the introduction of the automated birth registration system will result in massive job cuts at the births and deaths registry.<\/p>\n
The Birth and Death Registry last year introduced a technology that will allow people to register new births via\u00a0mobile phones.<\/p>\n
The technology, which is in partnership with UNICEF Ghana and Tigo Ghana, will allow the collation of data from rural Ghana directly onto a national database. However, some concerns have been raised about possible job cuts at the registry.<\/p>\n
In an interview with Citi News<\/strong>, John Agbeko said their employees are all registration officers and will therefore fit anywhere they will be posted.<\/p>\n \u201cThe registry currently needs to expand its capacity, because we have about 412 registries and the staff on ground is less than 300 so you realize that for now there won\u2019t be any heats as far as workers are concern.
