The Convention People’s Party (CPP) has blamed the low patronage of the limited voter registration exercise and clashes at the centers on the lack of proper education from the Electoral Commission and National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) to the citizenry.<\/p>\n
According to them, the EC prioritized less important activities, allocating less time to the education people on the ongoing registration exercise.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”CiKbBGoL2uM1JyWno8G5UcnvdiHnHcn1″]Their comments come on the back of the clashes between supporters of the governing National Democratic Congress and the opposition, New Patriotic Party in the Ashanti region over the alleged registration of minors in at least three centers leading to the destruction of voter\u2019s registration machines and other property.<\/p>\n
Speaking to Citi News<\/strong>, the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the CPP Matthew Kwesi Obeng Boadu said the EC must be collaboration with the NCCE to give Ghanaians much needed sensitization on the process.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen there are laws, the public has to know what it entails so Electoral Commission should liaise with NCCE so they will educate the public,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Mr. Boadue\u00a0however feels the EC have been lackadaisical in their approach to educating the public and have instead wasted time on non-pertinent issues like branding.<\/p>\n \u201cAt the time they were supposed to be doing the education, they were wasting their time on logos and unnecessary things.
