declared wanted<\/strong><\/span><\/a> by the Ashanti Regional Police Command for allegedly assaulting the Member of Parliament for Manhyia North, Felix Ibrahim, and a secretary to the party in that constituency, Collins Amankwa, at Krofrom in Kumasi.<\/p>\nThe alleged assault took place on the evening of May 1 at a registration centre in front of prospective voters who had queued to register in the ongoing limited voters’ registration exercise.<\/p>\n
Collins Amankwa and Felix Ibrahim initially lodged a complaint with the police who subsequently invited Chairman Wontumi for questioning.<\/p>\n
Wontumi turned down invitation<\/strong><\/p>\nThe police in a statement signed by ASP Tanko however indicated that the NPP regional chairman refused to honour the invitation.<\/p>\n
It is in this light that the Ashanti Regional CID \u00a0was instructed to have chairman Wontumi arrested to assist with investigations.<\/p>\n
The police in their statement added that it will be in the chairman\u2019s interest to report to the police and answer to the accusations of assault.<\/p>\n
