The 2012 Flagbearer of the People\u2019s National Convention (PNC), Hassan Ayariga,\u00a0 has revealed that he run the campaign for 2012 Presidential elections without \u00a0support from the National Executives of the Party.<\/p>\n
The Flagbearer who\u00a0 was addressing the Regional Executives and delegates of the party at Bolgatanga,\u00a0\u00a0stated that\u00a0unlike the National Democratic Congress(NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP),\u00a0 which raised money to support their Flagbearers,\u00a0 the PNC never did so.<\/p>\n
According to the Flagbearer, apart from using his own resources to run for the Presidential race, he spent his own\u00a0money\u00a0to pay for the\u00a0filing for\u00a0the parliamentary seats, including the payment for the polling agents of the party,\u00a0 as well as mounting about 1,500 bill boards.<\/p>\n
Mr Ayariga noted that what was even more worrying was that none of the National Executives went round to\u00a0with him\u00a0on his campaigns,\u00a0 and accused particularly the National Chairman of the party,\u00a0 for not showing any concern and not contributing towards the campaigns.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe party never injected\u00a0 a cedi during my eight\u00a0 months campaigns and I don\u2019t even know the party\u2019s accounts.<\/p>\n
‘The love I have for the party makes me to spend\u00a0 more of my resources running its activities,’ the flagbearer stressed.<\/p>\n
Mr Ayariga who blamed the party\u2019s\u00a0 poor performance in the 2012 elections to the attitude of the National Executives,\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 indicated that since that period, \u00a0 the party’s leadership had never held any National Executive meeting to chart a way forward.<\/p>\n
On the outcome of the 2012 elections, the Flagbearer told the Party Executives and delegates that what he just needed was\u00a0 five per cent of votes to make the election a\u00a0 run-off,\u00a0 so\u00a0 that either the NDC or the NPP could negotiate with the PNC\u00a0 for support.<\/p>\n
This, he noted, would have afforded the PNC to strike a deal with whichever\u00a0 party had the upper hand for more PNC members to secure political positions in governance\u00a0 and to\u00a0 make a headway after that.<\/p>\n
Mr Ayariga indicated that apart from his visit to the Region being a thank you tour,\u00a0 it was to afford him the opportunity to subject himself to the Regional executives and delegates for them to interrogate his stewardship and to clear certain allegations and rumours leveled against him.<\/p>\n
He underscored the need for unity in the Party, stressing that it was only through that the party could make a significant impact, and further impressed upon the delegates and party supporters to translate their love for the party into voting.<\/p>\n
\u201cGhanaians are fed up with the NDC and NPP,\u00a0 and will vote for our party if we make greater efforts of wooing more people to join us,\u00a0 and also translate our love into votes for the party.\u201d<\/p>\n
The First National Vice Chairman of the Party, Mr David Nibi,\u00a0 who stated that the Region was the backbone of the party, lauded the Regional and Constituency Executives,\u00a0 including party supporters,\u00a0 for contributing immensely to making the party always win more votes during elections.<\/p>\n
He urged them to continuously stand solidly behind the party,\u00a0 and reiterated the need for them to win new members into the party to enable it capture the 2016 elections.<\/p>\n
