The just elected flagbearer of the National Democratic Party (NDP), Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, has charged Ghanaians to reject incompetence in the governance of the country.

According to her, it is the duty of every Ghanaian to ensure that any government does not get complacent in its activities.

She made the call while speaking at the national delegates congress of the party on Saturday where she was appointed to lead the party in the November election.

[contextly_sidebar id=”AIfG99drX26ZTCGKgYatoQwSeSQpXA1s”]“It is our patriotic duty as citizens of Ghana, not to make room for government complacency at all. We should also not make room for government incompetence,” she said.

She added that “our greatest resource is the people of Ghana: our youth, our children. These are the future of the nation. Hope in Ghana’s future is dependent upon the opportunities that we create today that will harness the God-given talent of every citizen. Progress in a country begins with progressive leadership.”

Mrs Rawlings therefore charged Ghanaians to join the NDP in bringing back the principles upon which Ghana’s independence was gained.

“NDP is a vehicle for social justice for every Ghanaian. It is not about ambition; even though ambition is good, personal ambition to the detriment of the country borders on criminality. We need to return Ghana to the principles upon which our independence was fought for.”
