At least one person has died and 13 were injured in a car bomb blast near a police headquarters in the Turkish city of Gaziantep, officials say.<\/p>\n
The blast hit the southern city, 10km (six miles) from the Syrian border, at about 09:30 local time (06:30 GMT).<\/p>\n
CNN Turk said the blast was heard several kilometres away.<\/p>\n
Turkey has been hit by a series of deadly blasts over the past year, linked either to Kurdish militants or so-called Islamic State (IS).<\/p>\n
Ankara, Istanbul and Bursa are among cities that have been targeted by suicide bombings.<\/p>\n
Nine of the injured were police officers, Gaziantep’s regional governor was quoted as saying.<\/p>\n
How dangerous is Turkey’s instability?<\/strong> Gaziantep is known to have several IS cells.<\/p>\n In another development, Turkish police detained four suspected IS members, the Anadolu news agency reports.<\/p>\n The four were thought to be preparing to launch an attack in Ankara during Sunday’s May Day parades.<\/p>\n Separately three Turkish soldiers were killed and 14 others wounded in an attack that the army blamed on Kurdish militants of the PKK.<\/p>\n An army statement said the attack took place in Mardin province, where the army has been conducting a military operation against the PKK.<\/p>\n –<\/p>\n Source: BBC<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" At least one person has died and 13 were injured in a car bomb blast near a police headquarters in the Turkish city of Gaziantep, officials say. \nSome reports said gunfire was heard after the blast. There was no immediate word on who is behind the latest blast.<\/p>\n
