{"id":209969,"date":"2016-04-28T12:39:31","date_gmt":"2016-04-28T12:39:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=209969"},"modified":"2016-04-28T12:39:31","modified_gmt":"2016-04-28T12:39:31","slug":"dumsor-nearly-mars-afokos-testimony-in-court","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/04\/dumsor-nearly-mars-afokos-testimony-in-court\/","title":{"rendered":"Dumsor nearly mars Afoko&#8217;s testimony in court"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Intermittent power outages at the new court complex in Accra, today [Thursday] nearly ended\u00a0the testimony of suspended National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), in the suit where second vice chairman of the party, Sammy Crabbe, is challenging his suspension.<\/p>\n<p>The electricity company interrupted power supply to the building, leaving it with faulty back up generators which could not provide continuous power for thirty minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the intense heat in the court room, the judge Justice Dennis Adjei, allowed the case to go on with Paul Afoko giving his evidence in chief.<\/p>\n<p>The suspended vice chair of the NPP, Sammy Crabbe proceeded to court months after his suspension by the National Executive Council of the NPP citing violation of the rules of natural justice, error on the face of the records and a breach of procedure.<\/p>\n<p>According the suit, one of the members of the disciplinary committee which took the decision to suspend him had no locus to be part of the hearing that took the\u00a0decision against him.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Afoko indeed confirmed Mr. Crabbe&#8217;s position about the disputed committee member Gifty Kusi, when he mounted the witness box.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Suspended for misconduct<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sammy Crabbe, Paul Afoko and the General Secretary of the NPP, Kwabena Agyepong, were suspended last year for misconduct.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Crabbe and Paul Afoko are currently in court battling their suspension but Mr. Agyepong has not yet initiated any court action.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Fred Djabanor\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Intermittent power outages at the new court complex in Accra, today [Thursday] nearly ended\u00a0the testimony of suspended National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), in the suit where second vice chairman of the party, Sammy Crabbe, is challenging his suspension.
