{"id":208313,"date":"2016-04-21T05:46:12","date_gmt":"2016-04-21T05:46:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=208313"},"modified":"2016-04-21T05:46:12","modified_gmt":"2016-04-21T05:46:12","slug":"zambia-xenophobic-riots-two-burnt-alive-lusaka","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/04\/zambia-xenophobic-riots-two-burnt-alive-lusaka\/","title":{"rendered":"Zambia xenophobic riots: Two burnt alive in Lusaka"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"story-body__introduction\">Two people were burned to death on Monday during xenophobic violence in Zambia&#8217;s capital, Lusaka, police have said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The riots started after rumours that Rwandans were behind recent ritual killings in the city.<\/p>\n<p>The two were Zambian nationals killed &#8220;in the confusion&#8221; Home Affairs Minister Davies Mwila reportedly said.<\/p>\n<p>More than 250 people have been arrested after more than 60 Rwandan-owned shops were looted in two days of violence.<\/p>\n<p>The two Zambians had been burned with firewood and vehicle tyres, according to police quoted by the AFP news agency.<\/p>\n<p>Six people have been murdered since March and their body parts removed.<\/p>\n<p>Rumours circulated that the body parts would be used as charms to ensure success in business.<\/p>\n<p>Police spokeswoman Charity Munganga urged Zambians not to believe &#8220;false rumours&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;No baby or human body parts were found in any fridge belonging to any foreign national.
