Captain (rtd) Edmond Koda, Head of the security detail of the New Patriotic Party flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo, has lashed out at the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), for detaining the personal bodyguard and photographer of his boss.

The two; Kwadwo Kyeremeh and Malik Neequaye were detained by the BNI on Tuesday evening for refusing to fill “Personality profile” forms when they escorted captain Koda to the bureau to retrieve items seized from his residence.

[contextly_sidebar id=”pQ6dUXsRvsf34o1i8NYiH4r6ZIbnMxwG”]The two were released later on Wednesday.

But speaking to Citi News, Captain Koda, who has been linked to the story about the invitation of three former South African Police officers into the country, chastised the BNI for the detention.

He said “I’ve gone through the criminal code and I didn’t find any offence anywhere” for which Malik and Neequaye were detained.

Captain Koda explained that the BNI would only have a reason to detain the two who accompanied him only if they were suspects.

“They were just witnesses to the collection of items and they were going to be eyewitnesses to the return of those items which were collected.”

Captain Koda was implicated in the arrest of the three South African ex-Police officers who were arrested for allegedly training the private security personnel of the NPP Presidential Candidate and his running mate.

The 69-year old retired Captain of the Ghana Armed Forces was controversially re-arrested on the day charges against him were dropped and was eventually released on health grounds after he reportedly took ill in BNI custody.
