{"id":20822,"date":"2014-05-27T05:45:19","date_gmt":"2014-05-27T05:45:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=20822"},"modified":"2014-05-26T17:00:45","modified_gmt":"2014-05-26T17:00:45","slug":"idris-elba-to-shoot-movie-in-ghana","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/05\/idris-elba-to-shoot-movie-in-ghana\/","title":{"rendered":"Idris Elba to shoot movie in Ghana"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>Prominent British actor, producer, disc jockey and hiphop musician, Idris Elba, is to shoot some scenes for his new movie,\u00a0<em>Beasts of No Nation<\/em>\u00a0in Ghana.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>He is said to be working on the project with Red Crown Production and the movie is based on a novel written by Uzodinma Iweala and being directed by Cary Fukunaga.<\/p>\n<p>Shooting is expected to take place in some interesting locations in Ghana at Koforidua, Takoradi and others.<\/p>\n<p>The story,\u00a0<em>Beasts of No Nation<\/em>, follows the journey of a young boy, Agu, who, when civil war engulfs his West African country is forced to join a unit of mercenary fighters.<\/p>\n<p>Not only must Agu face the death of his father and disappearance of his mother and sister, but must also join a life of violence and brutality. Agu befriends a mute boy named Strika and together they face the crimes and hardships of war.<\/p>\n<p>Elba plays the lead role of Commander and he will serve in a producing capacity as well.<\/p>\n<p>Elba joins Red Crown Productions\u2019 Daniela Taplin Lundberg and Riva Marker, Parliament Of Owls\u2019 Cary Fukunaga and Primary Productions principal, Amy Kaufman, as producers on the film. Daniel Crown and Bill Benenson will serve as executive producers. Red Crown is funding the film.<\/p>\n<p>Elba is best known for his portrayal of drug lord and aspiring businessman, Russell &#8220;Stringer&#8221; Bell in the HBO series,\u00a0<em>The Wire,<\/em>\u00a0Detective John Luther in the BBC One series\u00a0<em>Luther<\/em>, and Nelson Mandela in the biographical film,\u00a0<em>Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Elba has been nominated for three Golden Globe Awards for Best Actor in a Miniseries or Television Film, winning one, and for Best Actor, as well as earning three Primetime Emmy Award nominations.<\/p>\n<p>Elba has appeared in films such as\u00a0<em>American Gangster<\/em>\u00a0(2007),\u00a0<em>Takers<\/em>\u00a0(2010),\u00a0<em>Thor<\/em>\u00a0(2011),\u00a0<em>Prometheus<\/em>\u00a0(2012),\u00a0<em>Pacific Rim<\/em>\u00a0(2013), and\u00a0<em>Thor: The Dark World<\/em>\u00a0(2013).<\/p>\n<p>In addition to his acting work, he is a DJ under the moniker, DJ Big Driis (or Big Driis the Londoner) and a hip-hop soul musician.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Source: Graphic Online<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Prominent British actor, producer, disc jockey and hiphop musician, Idris Elba, is to shoot some scenes for his new movie,\u00a0Beasts of No Nation\u00a0in Ghana.
