The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Suame Constituency of the Ashanti Region, has denied accusations by Deputy General Secretary of the incumbent\u00a0National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho, that the party\u00a0is criminally collating some data of\u00a0some people perceived to be non-Akans in the Ashanti Region in a bid to disenfranchise them.<\/p>\n
Mr. Anyidoho last week addressed a news\u00a0conference in Kumasi where he alleged that they had uncovered a plot by the NPP,\u00a0to present some\u00a0names to the EC as dead persons for their names to be expunged from the voters register during the limited registration.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”OGPQXIvzIlQiPJA1EPzH4918GOXQ5rJW”]But addressing the press today\u00a0[Wednesday], the Communications Director of the NPP in the Suame Constituency, Dr. John Osei Bobie Boahene, urged the general public to ignore the allegations from the NDC.<\/p>\n
\u201cIgnore the lies of Koku Anyidoho and the NDC party, the executives of the NPP at Suame would not have dignified the ranting\u00a0from that person but for the fact that a couple of otherwise distinguished personalities are making honest inquiries about the effusions of Koku Anyidoho and other supporters of the NDC.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cKoku Anyidoho has stated that on Election Day he himself will descend on Suame, soon after casting his votes to supervise the voting at Suame to let Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu and the Suame NPP know that there are men in town. Koku Anyidoho and some NDC members need to learn the fundamentals that electioneering and elections are not the display of muscles; but ideas and programmes springing from the deepest sanctuaries of intelligence, knowledge, experience and wisdom typical of his stock. Anyidoho cannot engage in political discussions without evoking tribal sentiments,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
NPP wants to win power at all cost<\/strong><\/p>\n Koku Anyidoho had argued that the NPP is adopting such tactics to\u00a0disenfranchise NDC supporters in the area in an attempt to win power at all cost in the November polls.<\/p>\n \u201cThe National Democratic Congress in the Ashanti Region has for sometime now been following certain leads and I can now authoritatively say that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in its desperation to win power at all cost through the back door, has decided to disenfranchise as many NDC supporters as possible,\u201d Koku Anyidoho stated.<\/p>\n Koku Anyidoho alleged that, the NPP is compiling what he called a \u201cdubious list of supposed dead NDC supporters\u201d [particularly in the Suame constituency] , which they intend to present to the Electoral Commission for such names to be deleted from the register.<\/p>\n \u201cThey are also trying to make a sensible case for a new voters\u2019 register to be compiled so as to enable them load that register with minors here in the Ashanti region,” he added.<\/p>\n –<\/p>\n By: Godwin A.
