The Flagbearer of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Ivor Greenstreet, has described leaders under the fourth republic as self-seeking presidents who did not seek the welfare of the citizenry.

“The leaders who have been leading us all of these years, you can see that they are people who are there to serve themselves. They are not there to serve the people of Ghana and we are tired. Ghanaians are tired, no longer are they going to tolerate a situation where the leaders do not think and dream for them.”

“When Kwame Nkrumah left office, he did not leave office with any money or houses; that is because he came to serve. Look at Brong Ahafo Region which he created. Look at even this area where we had a tomoato factory. Wasn’t it to make sure families will benefit and communities will benefit but as at now what is there?”

He explained that Ghana`s woes continue to worsen under these leaders, due to what he calls their unwillingness to pursue the country`s developmental agenda despite the enormous natural resources available.

“What are we doing with our cashew? What are we doing with these fertile lands we have here?If you travel to any country in the world, it is those places where the land is good, where they farm, that is where the richest people are. But here, because all of the money is kept by people who do not want to serve you, nothing is going on here and that is why people are suffering, that is why people always want to leave the country or rush to Accra.”

Addressing party faithfuls at Berekum in the Brong Ahafo Region on Tuesday, as part of his campaign tour of that region, Mr. Greenstreet charged the electorate in the area to consider the infrastructural development spearheaded by the CPP`s Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and vote for the party.

“We have to change that and make things different; but you also have to understand that for things to be different, you also have to do things differently and that is why we are pleading with you to look into your heart, look into the spirit and look into your soul. We come to represent that difference, that alternative way forward.”
