The family of the murdered former Upper East\u00a0Regional Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Adam Mahama, has petitioned Chief Justice Georgina Wood, over the conduct of the High Court Judge hearing the murder trial brought against the suspected killer Gregory Afoko.<\/p>\n
According to the family of the deceased, the judge, Lawrence L. Mensah, has been overburdening the state prosecutors with some of his demands such as the state ensuring their witnesses in the matter are brought in time\u00a0 for a speedy trial.<\/p>\n

The suspect, Gregory Afoko, has been charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit crime and murder of the late Adam Mahama.<\/p>\n
He together with his alleged accomplice, one Asabke Alangdi who is on the run, have been accused of pouring a substance believed to be acid on the former NPP regional chairman leading to his death.<\/p>\n
The court during the last hearing em-paneled a 7-member jury to try the murder case.<\/p>\n
Facts <\/strong><\/p>\n According to the facts of the case, on May 14, 2015, Gregory\u2019s brother, Mr. Paul Afoko and the General Secretary of the NPP, Mr Kwabena Agyepong, arrived in Bolgatanga for a meeting.<\/p>\n The late Adam \u00a0Mahama is reported to have organised some thugs to violently attack them, scuttling the planned meeting at the Azumsolon Guest House for campaigning against the flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and also for not notifying him.<\/p>\n The situation was later brought under control by the police,\u201d the prosecution said.<\/p>\n According to the prosecution, an upset Gregory confronted Adams Mahama but was chased out.
