<\/p>\nThe Presidential Candidate of the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP),\u00a0Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, has called on the Electoral Commission to probe the\u00a0funding of political party campaigns.<\/p>\n
His comments follows\u00a0President John Dramani Mahama’s nationwide ‘Accounting to the People’ tour.<\/p>\n
The PPP Founder and leader suggested that the President’s tour is a just campaign trip running on tax payer’s money.<\/p>\n
Dr. Nduom, in the remark made on Facebook, also asked how the National Democratic Congress funded its\u00a0‘Transforming Lives’ agenda which has been\u00a0widely advertised.<\/p>\n

“There are advertisements on radio, tv, newspapers, social media about the “Transforming Lives” agenda of the NDC. Who is paying for them? Where did the money come from? Why are ministers of state and government officials using official vehicles that belong to the state plus fuel to follow the President?”<\/p>\n
The politician cum entrepreneur was clear on the fact there should be a line between official duties of the public officials, and campaign activities which should be self funded as stipulated in\u00a0the Constitution.<\/p>\n
“There is a difference between official duties of a President, Ministers of State and DCEs and political campaign activities that should be private and self-funded. Where is the Electoral Commission on this? When will we have this Commission probe how political parties fund their campaigns?”<\/p>\n
