Management of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital has finally sacked the President of the Hospital’s Senior Staff Association, Charles Offei-Palm.<\/p>\n
A letter addressed to Offei-Palm and signed by the Chief Executive Officer of Korle Bu, Dr. Gilbert Buckle and cited by Citi News said the decision was taken upon recommendations by\u00a0the institution\u2019s Disciplinary Committee, and the termination of appointment takes effect from April 6, 2016.<\/p>\n

Charles Offei-Palm was interdicted by the management<\/a><\/strong><\/span> of the hospital last month [March], for allegedly flouting the hospital’s media policy by granting an interview to an Accra-based radio station, during which he made some offensive comments against the management.<\/p>\n He was later\u00a0referred to the hospital\u2019s disciplinary committee.<\/p>\n The letter dismissing him said, \u201cfollowing your interdiction and non-appearance for disciplinary hearing, the Disciplinary Committee has proceeded in your absence and found you guilty of the offences leveled against you as per your interdiction letter. Upon the recommendations of the Disciplinary Committee, your appointment with the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital is terminated with effect from 6th<\/sup> April, 2016.\u201d<\/p>\n The letter also noted that Mr. Offei-Palm will receive one month pay, in lieu of notice which will be paid to him at the end of April.<\/p>\n \u201cYou have 3 months, with effect from the date of your termination, to vacate your official accommodation and hand over the keys to the Head of Estates.\u201d<\/p>\n Background<\/strong><\/p>\n Mr. Offei-Palm\u2019s termination of appointment comes days after KOSSA said it will not rest on its oars until the management of the hospital fully addresses their concerns.<\/p>\n
