Banker cum musician Calvin Femi Dotse after hibernating for a while says he is ready with two new songs to thrill music lovers.<\/p>\n
The \u2018Voltarian\u2019 born to Ghanaian parents in Nigeria, and named Femi after his father\u2019s best friend says, \u201cif the systems are indeed fair, I should get VGMA nomination for \u2018Kabokabo\u2019 (trotro) ft Yaa Pono & Gallaxy and\u2018No Matter\u2019 ft Gallaxy because of the quality and massive effort put in the two tunes.\u201d<\/p>\n
The songs are set to be launched on Gaddafi Don Lansah, a.k.a Dj Gaddafi\u2019s countdown show on Citi FM, come Friday April 8 2016.<\/p>\n
According to Femi, although music has been his passion, he has now appreciated the need to establish himself as a formidable artiste and take new territories. This he says explains his new drive to be commercially successful.<\/p>\n
While \u2018Kabokabo\u2019 Igbo for \u2018Trotro\u2019 taps into the many duels that occur in commercial vehicles in Ghana and Nigeria especially regarding fares, \u2018No Matter\u2019 is crafted to encourage people to never give up in life despite setbacks in love, academic and work life.<\/p>\n

\u201cI leant carving, slept on the streets for a year and half, sold bread on the street all to survive; but I never gave up and it is to the Supreme Divine\u2019s grace that I am a banker and an artiste today.\u201d<\/p>\n
On how \u2018No Matter\u2019 was conceived, Femi said he was in the company of hiplife duo Gallaxy, who informed him about a beat producer Shoto Blinkx, and when they congregated in the studio, thanks to the positive vibes, the tune was executed in 3 hours.<\/p>\n
Describing his music as being in the afro beat, pop and dancehall genre, Femi noted that he has been singing for a while but got his major breakthrough when he auditioned for the 2005 Nescafe African Revelation contest making it to the final 10 list in the Eastern Region.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat experience was valuable. Meeting industry big shots such as KOD, Praye and others was an enlightening experience\u201d the artiste stated.<\/p>\n
Femi early on offered \u2018Burning Desire\u2019 and \u2018Guan\u2019ft. Luther to \u2018Decent Reception\u2019 even though there were no planned promotional strategies in place.<\/p>\n
Femi enrolled in Ho Polytechnic undertaking a course in Accountancy from 2006 to 2009, and when he wasretained by Stanbic Bank after national service, he\u2019s been a banker and an artiste since then.<\/p>\n
On difficulties associated with being a banker and an entertainer, the man who recently earned an MBA in Financial Management from the Cambridge international College, U.K stated that \u201cI use music as an escape from the vigorous demands of the banking world as it relaxes my nerves after a hard day\u2019s work.\u201d<\/p>\n
Although not signed on to any record label, Femi says he is open for such talks.<\/p>\n
