{"id":20437,"date":"2014-05-24T10:29:15","date_gmt":"2014-05-24T10:29:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=20437"},"modified":"2014-05-24T14:35:11","modified_gmt":"2014-05-24T14:35:11","slug":"quality-of-education-under-threat-in-uw-head-teachers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/05\/quality-of-education-under-threat-in-uw-head-teachers\/","title":{"rendered":"Quality of education under threat in U\/E  \u2013 Head Teachers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">Head teachers of Senior \u00a0Secondary Schools in the Upper East Region say the quality of teaching and learning is under threat due to<\/span>\u00a0inadequate accommodation for staff and students, encroachment on school lands and inconsistencies in the payment of feeding grants.<\/p>\n<p>This was disclosed to the Regional Minister during a consultation meeting held in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region.<\/p>\n<p>The Chairman of the Conference of the Heads of Assisted Schools in the region, Patrick Tangoyiri <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"25b29749-d0c5-4cbd-8d4c-b27b6c01c5d1\">said though<\/span>\u00a0some\u00a0<span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"3babde8e-925f-4db0-9acc-e0230a900a4b\">schools<\/span> in <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"eb829c97-79ce-48db-8903-fc603e8cf8e1\">the<\/span>\u00a0area have improved, indiscipline is on the increase.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have problems with students bringing mobile phones and causing all the problems that are associated with the use of mobile phones; looking at pornographic pictures instead of studying and when it comes to exams, they want to use their phones to <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"79a6c35f-380d-4f62-a5a9-5e674709b8af\">whatsapp<\/span> questions to their friends,\u201d he lamented.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe next problem is the time they pay the feeding grant.
