Nintendo\u2019s first smartphone application, \u201cMiitomo,\u201d now has a U.S. launch date: March 31st.<\/p>\n
In addition, the company says it will also be available in several other countries at the same time.<\/p>\n
While the company didn\u2019t detail which countries will also receive the app, it will likely include several European markets, and others available on the list posted here to the Miitomo\u2019s website.<\/p>\n
That list suggests that, in addition to its debut market of Japan and the U.S., the app will also reach Canada, the U.K., Ireland, France, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Luxembourg, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Russia, Australia, and New Zealand.<\/p>\n
Nintendo says that other countries may still be added, too.<\/p>\n
For those who missed the news the first time around, Nintendo\u2019s first application is, sadly, not a new Mario game for iOS and Android smartphone owners.<\/p>\n
Instead, the company ported the concept of \u201cMiis\u201d \u2013 the animated avatars introduced with the launch of the Wii console years ago \u2013 to a social gaming platform.<\/p>\n
In Miitomo, users create and customize their own Miis with different hairstyles, facial features, outfits, accessories and more.<\/p>\n
They give them nicknames, choose how they should speak and customize their personality.<\/p>\n
The app will ask you several \u201cgetting to know you\u201d questions, like \u201cwhat TV show are you watching?,\u201d \u201cWhat\u2019s the weirdest thing you\u2019ve ever eaten?,\u201d \u201cwhere did you go last weekend?,\u201d etc., and records your answers.<\/p>\n
The Miis then interact with others in a virtual environment, where their answers are shared with each other. Friends can respond to you with hearts, picture messages, or written messages.<\/p>\n
