The Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL) has announced the introduction of additional security measures at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) in the wake of recent terror attacks in the West African sub-region.<\/p>\n

The Company said it will begin the screening of all passengers before they enter the departure halls.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”YwrBvInPJdTehHkasHLmhQ0PRoqcIK8z”]A statement from the Management of the Company admonished all passengers to bear with them as they undertake such security checks to prevent any attack.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Ghana Airport Company Limited wishes to inform the traveling public that additional security measures have been introduced at the Kotoka Intentional Airport and the Regional Airports. The measures include screening of passengers before entering the departure hall, restricting entry into the terminal to only the traveling public, preventing all unauthorized persons from accessing restricted areas, preventing parking unauthorized vehicles in front of the terminal, decongesting the airport square and intensify police military presence.\u201d<\/p>\n

The statement further solicited \u201cthe cooperation of the traveling public and regrets any inconvenience caused.\u201d<\/p>\n

Terrorists targeting West Africa, Ghana at risk<\/strong><\/p>\n

The National Security Council has said terrorists are plotting to unleash attacks within countries in the West African sub-region.<\/p>\n

The Council said based on intelligence from other agencies, it has every reason to believe that countries including Ghana is at risk.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe National Security Council on the basis of briefings by the intelligence agencies and partners, has determined that there is a credible terrorists threat to all countries in the sub-region,\u201d a statement issued by the Communications Ministry added.<\/p>\n
